No delete detection source with a deleted set (Business Rule)

Applies to
Platform: Microsoft SQL Server · Snowflake · Databricks · Fabric Lakehouse · Fabric Warehouse · Oracle
Architecture: Data Store

This business rule checks that a Store Entity with Delete Detection Method DeletedSet has a Delete Detection Source. It raises an error, which blocks generation in the client until you fix it. The rule ID is ID-10041.

Message

The client shows an error with this text on the model object. <model object name> and <type> stand for its name and type.

Model object '<model object name>' of type '<type>' has delete detection
method 'DeletedSet' configured and no delete detection source
configured. Configure delete detection source or choose another delete
detection method.

On the model object card, point to the error icon to see this message with the rule ID: Error ID-10041. The Generate Artifacts page lists the message without the ID.

Cause

Delete Detection Method of the Store Entity is DeletedSet, and Delete Detection Source is empty. With DeletedSet, the Delete Detection Source delivers the business keys of the rows to mark as deleted.

Fix

  1. Open Edit Model Object of the Store Entity.
  2. Select the model object that delivers the deleted business keys in Delete Detection Source, or choose another Delete Detection Method, and save. The error disappears.

Check the result

The error icon is gone from the Store Entity, and generation is no longer blocked by it.

Example

In a Data Store project on Microsoft SQL Server, the Store Entity dd_fullset_implicit_bk_only gets Delete Detection Method DeletedSet without a Delete Detection Source. The client shows:

Model object 'dd_fullset_implicit_bk_only' of type 'Store Entity' has
delete detection method 'DeletedSet' configured and no delete detection
source configured. Configure delete detection source or choose another
delete detection method.
