Delete detection source exists (Business Rule)

Applies to
Platform: Microsoft SQL Server · Snowflake · Databricks · Fabric Lakehouse · Fabric Warehouse · Oracle
Architecture: Data Store

This business rule checks that the model object set in Delete Detection Source (DeleteDetectionSource) of a Store Entity exists. It raises an error, which blocks generation in the client until you fix it. The rule ID is ID-10042.

Message

The client shows an error with this text on the Store Entity. <model object name> and <type> stand for its name and type.

Model object '<model object name>' of type '<type>' has a delete
detection source configured, but the referenced model object could not
be found.

On the model object card, point to the error icon to see this message with the rule ID: Error ID-10042. The Generate Artifacts page lists the message without the ID.

Cause

Delete Detection Method of the Store Entity is not None, and Delete Detection Source refers to a model object that is not in the project.

Fix

  1. Open Edit Model Object of the Store Entity.
  2. Select an existing model object in Delete Detection Source and save. Delete Detection Method DeletedSet needs one; with FullSet you can also clear the field. The error disappears.

Check the result

The error icon is gone from the Store Entity, and generation is no longer blocked by it.

Example

In a Data Store project on Microsoft SQL Server, the Delete Detection Source of the Store Entity dd_fullset_explicit_bk_only refers to a model object that is not in the project. The client shows:

Model object 'dd_fullset_explicit_bk_only' of type 'Store Entity' has a
delete detection source configured, but the referenced model object
could not be found.
