Sensitivity Level Tag Name (Project)

Sensitivity Level Tag Name (SensitivityLevelTagName) sets the name of the tag that Apply Sensitivity Level Tags puts on classified columns. Change it when your governance policies use another tag name. It has an effect only when Apply Sensitivity Level Tags is true.

Available since Generator 2.2; Snowflake dbt has it since its first release, Generator 2.4.

Format and defaults

The property is a single-line text field in the Governance group of the Additional Settings in Project Settings. The default depends on the platform:

  • Snowflake and Snowflake dbt: SENSITIVITY_LEVEL
  • Databricks and Databricks dbt: sensitivity_level

Name rules

The generator adjusts the name you enter before it writes it to the artifacts:

  • Snowflake and Snowflake dbt: characters other than letters, digits, _ and $ become _, and the name is written in upper case.
  • Databricks and Databricks dbt: characters other than letters, digits, _, @ and # become _, and the case is kept.

Where the tag is created

  • Snowflake: the generated script SQL/deploy_prerequisites.sql creates the tag if it does not exist, on every deployment. The tag is placed in the database and schema of the placeholders governance#tags#database_name and governance#tags#schema_name.
  • Snowflake dbt: the macro create_governance_tags creates the tag in the database and schema of the vars governance_tags_database and governance_tags_schema. Run it with dbt run-operation create_governance_tags; dbt does not run it on its own.
  • Databricks and Databricks dbt: the generator does not create the tag on Databricks. Create it in Unity Catalog before you run the notebook or dbt. Use the adjusted name, as in the example below.

Example

A project on Snowflake uses the tag name my-tag 1. The generated script creates the tag MY_TAG_1:

On Databricks, the tag name My-Tag 1 becomes My_Tag_1 in the tags notebook:

SET TAGS ('My_Tag_1' = 'Confidential Data')
