# Fabric Warehouse - Load data - Native Load Control

**Applies to**
Platform: Fabric Warehouse

Load the deployed Fabric Warehouse solution with the native load control by running the notebook `<project>_MultithreadingLoadExecution`. The notebook runs every loader in dependency order, four at a time, and writes each step to the execution log. Afterwards every loader has run once with the same load timestamp.

How the load control plans and runs loads is explained in [Understand Load Control](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/understand-load-control?hsLang=en). The procedure applies to all Fabric Warehouse generator configurations, including Dimensional and Dimensional and Mart.

### Prerequisites

- [LoadControl Options](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/loadcontrol-options-project?hsLang=en) is `Multi-Threading Notebook`, and [Deploy LoadControl](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/deploy-loadcontrol-project?hsLang=en) is on. Otherwise the artifacts contain no load notebook.
- The artifacts of the whole project are [deployed](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/fabric-warehouse-deployment?hsLang=en) without errors, including the execution log. Deploying the artifacts of a single Dataflow Modeling View is not supported.
- You can read the secrets of the Key Vault, and the service principal is a Member of the workspace, see [Fabric Warehouse - Target environment](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/fabric-warehouse-target-environment?hsLang=en).

### Load the data

1. In Fabric, select **Workspaces** and open the workspace of the deployment.
   ![Workspace list with bgDocumentationWarehouse highlighted](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-10-2026-03-19-57-0871-PM.png?width=307&height=126&name=image-png-Mar-10-2026-03-19-57-0871-PM.png)
2. Open the notebook `<project>_MultithreadingLoadExecution` in the folder of the deployment.
3. Run all cells of the notebook.
4. Wait until the last cell ends. It prints one line per step, for example `<time> - <loader>: finished task`, and ends with `tasks completed successfully`.

The notebook takes the load timestamp when it starts and passes it to every loader. It reads the client ID, client secret and tenant ID from the Key Vault and calls the loaders as the service principal over ODBC Driver 18. The variable `threads_amount = 4` in its second cell sets how many loaders run in parallel.

### Check the result

The load succeeded when the notebook ends with `tasks completed successfully`. To see the steps of the last load, run this Spark SQL query in a notebook of the workspace. `<lakehouse>` is the lakehouse of the execution log; for a lakehouse with schemas, write `<lakehouse>.<schema>.execution_log`:

```
SELECT log_timestamp, log_level, task_name, message
FROM <lakehouse>.execution_log
WHERE load_timestamp =
      (SELECT MAX(load_timestamp) FROM <lakehouse>.execution_log)
  AND (log_level = 'ERROR' OR task_name = 'main')
ORDER BY log_timestamp;
```

The SQL analytics endpoint of the lakehouse can show the newest log rows about a minute later than the notebook. In the warehouse, the tables now hold the loaded rows:

![Data preview of the table STG\_ST\_creditcard in the warehouse with the loaded rows](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-10-2026-03-37-55-2089-PM.png?width=670&height=292&name=image-png-Mar-10-2026-03-37-55-2089-PM.png)

### Example

The Data Store project `test.datastore.fabricwh` has 97 loaders. Its first load ran in 6 minutes 45 seconds. The execution log received 298 rows with the log level `INFO`, and the query above returned only the last row:

```
log_level  task_name  message
INFO       main       tasks completed successfully
```

Each loader wrote the rows `starting task`, its row counts and `finished task`.

### Failure symptoms and recovery

#### Some loaders failed

Message: `<number> tasks failed during execution. Please check the logs for more details.`
Cause: A loader failed. The notebook wrote an `ERROR` row with the database error and skipped all loaders that depend on it; the other loaders ran.
Fix: Read the `ERROR` rows of the execution log with the query of [Check the result](https://knowledge.bigenius-x.com/fabric-warehouse-load-data-native-load-control#check-the-result). Correct the cause and run the notebook again; it runs all loaders with a new load timestamp.

#### A Cached table is empty after its loader failed

Message: the error of the loader, for example `Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '<value>' to data type int.`
Cause: A loader of a model object with Implementation Type `Cached` empties its table in a separate transaction before it inserts. When the insert fails, the table stays empty until the loader runs again successfully.
Fix: Correct the cause and load again.
