Create a Model Object

You have two options for creating a Model Object:

Create a Model Object manually

To create a new Model Object, click on the Add button of the desired Layer on the Dataflow Modeling overview page:

The Add a Model Object to a Model View side panel window opens:

All the available functions in the table are described here: Understand the available functions in the tables.

Click on the NEW button:

The Add a new Model Object to a Model View side panel window opens:

Fill in the following information:

  1. Name: fill in the desired Model Object's name
  2. Description (optional): fill in the desired Model Object's description
  3. Model Object Type: choose the desired Model Object type.

The Model Object name should be unique:

  • Per Source system for a Source Model Object
  • Per Model Object Type for non-Source Model Objects

The available Model Object Types for a Layer are determined by the Semantic configuration of the Generator applied to the Project.

In this example, the Layer Stage can contain only 1 Model Object Type:

  • Stage

Click on the SAVE button.

A notification confirms the successful creation:

The new Model Object is now available in the Add a Model Object to a Model View side panel window:

You can now add the Model Object to the Model View.

Please note: The Source Model Objects for the Source layer are created from the Discovery. As explained in this article, you can manually create a Source Model Object. This functionality is primarily intended for testing or demonstration purposes. Keep in mind that manually created Source Model Objects cannot be mapped to a Discovery.
